July 26, 2012–Google Analytics has been a leader in affordable analytics to small and midsized businesses (SMB) for several years now. All that might change however with the announcement of Yahoo! Genome, an analytics engine powered by Interclick which Yahoo! acquired late last year. The Venture Beat article, “Yahoo Launches Genome Ad Solution to Give Better Audience Analytics”, explains what sets Genome apart from other analytics solutions.
“With Genome, companies looking for more specific audience data can have that combined with Yahoo’s own data, including user searches and account registrations. The company says the app will help companies “understand consumer needs, anticipate audiences’ future performance, and enable you to develop efficient media buys.” It also taps into “big data” to provide all kinds of crazy number-crunching.”
SMBs would be crazy not to use the most cost efficient analytics solutions. There are, though, many analytics solutions without the advertising power of Yahoo! and Google which can be customized to meet specific needs and are quite affordable. We have been impressed with Digital Reasoning’s Synthesys platform’s ability to work with SMBs. With a rich background in intelligence they understand the importance of security yet also work with small companies providing customer training and ongoing support.
